Hand written letter by HaGaon Rabbi Shimon Szkop Rosh Yeshiva of Grodno, and one of the great sages of his generation, to the Great Rabbi Reuven Katz Rabbi of Petach Tikvah and author of the ‘Degel Reuven’. The letter deals with the subject of the rescue of Jewish youths and emigration permits to Israel.
“15t day of Cheshvon 1938 ‘In Honor of my dear friend great sage Rabbi Reuven Katz Rav of Petach Tikvah, Israel, As this issue is already known. “His great emotional outpouring in request to rescue the souls of his sons.”
וגודל השתפכות נפשו בבקשתו להציל נפש בנו”.
The letter also discusses the health condition of HaGoan Ab”d of Sokolka (perhaps referring to the Great Rabbi Yitzchok HaLevi Ab”d of Sokolka, Hurodno which is Grodno, son in law of The Great Rabbi Shlomo HaKohen of Vilna) and his son Rabbi Nachum.

Rabbi Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Szkop, (1860-1939) Was Rosh Yeshiva of Shaar HaTorah in Grodno one of the great men of the generation, He created the unique classic Eastern European way in learning expressed mainly in his Sefer “Shaarei Yosher”, learned in his writings and traditions throughout the Jewish Diaspora, especially the Yeshiva World.
Rabbi Reuven HaKohen Katz (1880-1963) From the important Rabbis and Poskai Halachah in his generation, was Rabbi of Petach Tikvah for 30 years and Rosh Yeshiva of Petach Tikvah and auther of Shu”t “Degel Reuven” and some more seforim. Was awarded the prize of Harav Kooks Torah Literature in the year of 1950.
