A call from Rabbi Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini, when he returned to Eretz Yisrael durring his old age, to help the Talmud Torah in Yafo which was in danger of being shut down due to its financial debts. [Yafo, about 1899].

Shaarei Torah was an institution from the time of the first immigration which was set up by the old settlement in the Nevei Shalom neighberhood in Yafo in 1890. Was active until the War of Independance when it was abandoned and closed due to the war.
