Rare letter from Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Shneersohn of Lubavitz, sent to Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Eizik HaLevi Herzog on his 60th birthday. The letter was written about a year and one month before his passing. Brooklyn, 9th day of Teves 1949.

…ובימי כת”ר שליט”א ובימינו נוושע בגאולה שלמה ואמיתית על ידי משיח צדקנו אשר יקבצנו מארצות פזורנו ויביאנו לארצנו הקדושה. ידידו הדורש שלום כת”ר מכבדו כערכו הרם ומברכו בגשמיות וברוחניות.”

Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Shneersohn from Lubavitz (1880-1950). Was born to his father the Admo”r Rabbi Shalom DovBer Shneersohn Harash”b, and from the year 1920 served as the sixth Admo”r in the chain of Admo”rim of Chaba”d Lubavitz. On Shabbat Parashat Bo, the tenth day of Shevat 1950 he passed away, His funeral took place the following day and he was interned in the Chaba”d section of the Montifiore cemetery in Queens, New York. A special shelter (ohel) was built on his Tomb. His place as Leader of Chaba”d Lubavitz, was inherited by his son-in-law, the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shneersohn of Lubavitz.
