Rabbi Naftali Hirtz HaLevi scholar, mekubal and holy, first Ashkenaz Rabbi of Yafo, born in Bialistok. At the age of 30 he ascended to Eretz Yisrael, and settled in the Maeh Shearim neighborhood and opened there a Yeshiva. In the year 1886 he was send by the Great Rabbi Shamuel Salant and Rabbi Yehoshua Leib Diskin to lead as Rav in the Ashkenaz community that has been established in Yafo. In the year 1891 the communities of Ashenaz and Sefard united and HaRav Levi became the undisputed authority in all the Jewish Community Affairs.
Known as an uncompromising fighter for the purity and character of the community and the new orthodox settlement, popular Mekubal with a wealth in Toraht Hanistar.
