Sefer ‘Nishmat Chaim’ lectures to prove life after death and about the soul in general, by the author and great scholar Rabbi Menashe ben Yisrael. First edition printed during his lifetime. Amsterdam 1651.

On the last page is an article from Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas from the Amsterdam scholars (1610-1698), a great fighter of the Shabbetai Tzvi movement in his generation, who called their leader "צעיר הזבובים קצוץ הכנפים…".

HaChacham Rabbi Menashe ben Yisrael, from great scholars of Amsterdam in his generation, lived several years in Brazil and England.

He worked a lot to eliminate the ban on the entry of Jews to the British Island and even met for this purpose with Oliver Cromwell (an English military and political leader), and was in touch with many great and intelligent from the foreign nations who admired him very much (among them Queen Christina of Sweden). 

Even though he wrote: "ואני תפילות לאל לא עשיתי חכמות חיצוניות קבע".
