Two cover sheets, one for each volume. On the back of the cover page is approbation of the ‘Pnei Yehoshua’ and the authors brother HaGaon Rabbi Avraham Katz ab"d Teplice.

Rabbainu HaGaon Rabbi Yaakov Poppers, born in Prague to Rabbi Binyamin HaKohen Poppers where he served as Dayan. At 27 years old, in the year 1698, he was appointed as Rav in Koblenz until 1718 when he was selected to serve as ab"d and Rosh Yeshiva in Frankfurt am Main, where he passed away and was buried on th 22nd day of Shevat 1742. His yeshiva was famous for the great scholars who learned there, including Rabbi Yosef Steinhart, His son-in-law Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Katzenelenbogen, Rabbi David Tevele, Rabbi Elchanan Ashkenazi (author of the Sidrei Taharah commentary on Shulchan Aruch, Hilchot Niddah) and many other Torah leaders. He negotiated in Halachah with giants of the generation like Rabbi Yehuda Muller.
After his passing, in the year 1742, his two sons, R’ Yehuda Leib and R’ Zev Wolf, published his famous sefer shu"t ‘Shev Yaakov’ the sefer became a general sefer of Halacha and is quoted a lot in sefarim of the Poskim amongst them the ‘Pischei Teshuva’ on Shulchon Aruch. The famous Torah giant and scholar the’Pnei Yehushua’ – HaRav Yaakov Yehoshua Falk of Krakow, replaced him as Rav of Frankfurt am Main, .
