Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Magulis the ‘Pnei Moshe’ [1710-1781], great commentator on Yerushalmi, his comprehensive and famous commentary ‘Pnei Moshe’ is one of two most common commentaries on Talmud Yerushalmi. According to legend the Rabbainu ‘Gr"a learned by him in his youth when he was in Kėdainiai (Rabbi Zalmen Zev in his endorsement for the Zhytomyr Yerushalmi edition, 1866). He was familiar with both Talmuds, in Tosefta, commentaries of Rishonim, and Midrashai Halachah and Agadah.
