HaRav D"r David Tzvi (Rd"tz) Hofman [1843-1912]. Studend of the Mehara"m Shik, the Kesav Sofer and Rabbi Ezriel Hildsheimer. From leaders of German Jewery, Talmudic researcher, Posek and head of the Beit Medrash of Rabbanim in Berlin. He is famous for his commentaries on Torah including fighting those that criticized of the Bible while using scientific tools. As Agudat Yisrael was established, he was gloriously appointed to serve as member in the first Moetzes Gedolai HaTorah of Agudat Yisrael International.
HaRav D"r Asher Michael (Arthur) Kohen [1824-1942]. Studend of Rabbi Ezriel Hildsheimer. From leaders of Switzerland Judaism, Rav of Basel, from the founders of "Agudat Yisrael" movement. Initiated the first Zionist congress to be held in Basel in the year 1897, after an objection was raised for the initiative of Hertzel to establish the congress in Munich.
