"The Dayan of Pupa":
HaGaon Rabbi Moshe Yosef Hofman (1853- 1908 ) was a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Asad and from the great students of the holy Gaon ‘Kesav Sofer’. In the year 1882 he started to serve as a Dayan in the city of Pupa in Hungary. His name became famous in all corners of the world as a miracle Maker, and as a holy person who merited the visualization of Eliyahu Hanavi. In the year 1909 he immigrated to Israel and established his home in the Holy City of Jerusalem, his identity became known right away as one of the great scholars of the city. Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld considered himself always as his revered student.
