Rabbi Menachem Azaryah of Fano, was a famous great Mekubbal, authored many sefarim in Niglah and Nistar (among them ‘Shu"t HaRama MeFano’). Born in Bologna and wandered a lot between the cities of Italy, suffered from the expulsion by the Pope Pius V in 1569. While he settled in Ferrara he immersed himself in the Torah of the Ramak and considered him as his revered Rabbi, though never meeting him in his lifetime. After the passing of the Ramak, Rabbi Menachem Azaryah inherited his manuscripts from his widow for a large amount of money. The Moron ‘Beit Yosef appointed him to manage the printing of his sefer ‘Kesef Mishnשh’ on the Rambam.
