Very rare! Sefer ‘Isur VeHeter HaAruch’, Prague edition 1884.The sefer (as indicated by Rabbi Moshe Isserles – the Rama) was then referred to Rabbeinu Yonah Gerondi (of Girona, Spain).
This is a personal copy of the holy Rabbi Yisrael of Pykiv (son of heavenly advocate of the Jewish people, Hrh"k Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Barditchev, who refers in his Sefer ‘Kedushat Levi’ to Divrei Torah of this holy son), with the signature of his son Hrh"k Rabbi Moshe of Pykiv hand written.
The name of Hrh"K Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua of Pykiv is signed on the copy:
‘הרב ר’ משה מפיקוב’
And next to his name is written:
‘זה הספר שייך להרב המאור הגדול החריף מו"ה ישראל נ"יו אב"ד .. פיקאב ועכשיו … בארדיטשאב ‘.
Sefer ‘Isur VeHeter HaAruch’ is an important sefer from the days of the Rishonim dealing with Halachot of Isur and Heter. The author Rabbi Yone ben Rabbi Yisrael of Regensburg – disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Isserlin author of ‘Terumat Hadeshen’.
On this edition it is printed: "אומרים כי הוא הגאון השלם מורינו ורבינו מוהר"ר יונה גירונדי" (as is told that the author is ‘HaGaon Rabbeinu Yonah Gerondi’), since in the Prague edition of 1764, is written that the author is: "רבינו יונה גירונדי", because on the first edition it was written: "הגאון מהר"ר יונה", therefor in this print the reference is slightly corrected and written as mentioned above.
Later it is acknowledged that the true author is Rabbeinu Yone ben Rabbi Yisrael of Regensburg, who was a disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Isserlein author of ‘Terumat Hadeshen’.
Hrh"k Rabbi Yisrael of Pikov [1763-1818], author of ‘Likutei Mahrin’ and ‘Toldot Yitzchok ben Levi’, was the firstborn son of the holy ‘advocate of Jewish people’ Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev. He was a disciple of his great father and basked in the shadows of Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sassov, Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli and Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz. He married the daughter of Rabbi Akiva of Mykolaiv (son of Rabbi Yosef ben Rabbi David of Mykolaiv – who was a disciple of the Ba’al Shem Tov HaKadosh). His Chidushei Torah were added to the sefer ‘Likutei Mahrin V’Toldot Yitzchok ben Levi’ which was first printed in Barditchev ,1911. Rabbi Yisrael filled the place of his father as Rav in the city of Barditchev. On 23rd day of Elul 1818 he passed away and was laid to rest in the ohel of his father zt"l.
And so is written his praise in the sefer ‘Shem HaGedolim HaChadash’:
הרב מו"ה ישראל הגאון החסיד המפורסם אבד"ק פיקעב, וקדוש יאמר לו בן לאותו צדיק הגאון הקדוש מו’ לוי יצחק זצלה"ה אבד"ק בארדיטשוב, חיבר ספר תולדות יצחק בן לוי ונדפס. ובקדושות תנינא מביא אביו הגאון ז"ל בעצמו איזה חידושים ממנו גם מאחיו החסיד מו"ה מאיר ז"ל.
