268, [1] pages. 20cm. with ownership signature of Rabbi Tuvia Lipschitz, and a label that indicates that the sefer was received by: ‘חברת דורשי האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלם’ In Warsaw. Inheritance of Rabbi Tuvia Lipschitz.
Rabbi Tuvia Lipschitz (1843-1916), from disciples of Yeshivat Telz and from respected of the city of Zgierz. He was fluent in German and common languages, and was knowledgeable in Judaica sefarim and the sources of Hebrew culture. He established in Zgierz the ‘Bnei Tzion’ association and served as the first head of Agudat HaTzionim in his city. In his sefer ‘Nitfei Tal’ (includes annotations on Tanach, articles, speeches and writings) he calls to return not only to the Israel nation but to the Torah and spirit of Israel. He served as the first treasurer of the ‘Gemilat Chasadim’ fund in his city and bequeathed his rich library to the Hebrew University.
Yitzchak Shlomo Reggio – Yasha"r (1784-1856) lived in Gorizia and served as the rabbi of the town. He was one of the first maskilim of Italy and leaders of the ‘Chochmat Yisrael’ movement.
