Hand written postcard with signature of Rabbi Shlomo Alexander Sofer-Shreiber. Seret, 18th day of Nisson 1914.

In the postcard Rabbi Shlomo Alexander informs the historian Rabbi Dr. Yehuda Leib (Lewis) Levine, about letters from his family that have been published. In addition he informs him about the copy of a letter sent to Rabbi Akiva Eiger he copied from his sefer. He adds a request on some historical information as follows:

"אולי יש אתו או ידע היכן נמצאים מכתבים מרעק"א או לא"ז או אודותם יאבה בטוח להודיעני". בהמשך מבקש רבי שלמה לברר מידע אודות רבי אליהו מרגליות וזהותו של חותנו, ומבקש מידע אודות מינויו של "הרב הגדול המופלג בתו"י מוהר"ר יעקב פריימאן", אב"ד הלישוי, לרבה של פוזנא, "על כסא…. רבינו עקיבא".

Rabbi Shlomo Alexander Sofer-Shrieber (1856-1924), son of the ‘Michtav Sofer’ Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Krakow (son of the ‘Chasam Sofer’). Lived in Siret the city of his father-in-law, Rabbi Moshe Wax. Rabbi Shlomo Alexander owned many manuscripts from the righteous of his family and published the innovations of the Chasam Sofer on Tractate Chulin. His son-in-law Rabbi Yosef Naftali Stern, Rosh Yeshiva of Pressburg in Jerusalem and president of ‘Otzar HaPoskim’ and member of Moetzet Gedolai HaTorah, toiled much to publish many manuscripts from the holy Chasam Sofer.
