Caftan ‘Bekishe’ inlaid with gold threads and gold flowers, which the honored holy Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef of Sadigura, the author of ‘Knesset Mordechai’, wore for many of his last years, in the Holidays and on Shabbos.
In the year 1986, about seven years after he passed away, his son and successor , the author of ‘Ikvey Abirim’, gave the Caftan to a most loyal and close Hassid, as a token of appreciation and esteem, emphasizing the precious value of this sacred garment.
The honored holy Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef of Sadigura [1896-1979], son of Rabbi Aharon son of Rabbi Israel of Sadigura. Rabbi Mordechai Shalom was the author of ‘Knesset Mordechai’, one of the greatest Hasidic leaders [Rebbes] of his generation, and one of the most important leaders of Israel in recent generations. He was appointed at a young age as a Rebbe, and at the age of 32 he was appointed as the youngest member of ‘Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah’. Hhe was appointed also as the president of the ‘Agudat Israel Torah Foundation’ and was among the leaders of the movement. He established a yeshiva for hundreds of young boys in Przemyśl. In Eratz Israel, he took part in the establishment of many Torah organizations and initiatives: the ‘independent education’ system, ‘Beit Yaakov’ and a network of Torah lessons. During his period, the Sadigura Hasidic movment expanded and developed in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and other places.
