Long and full Teshuva (answer), holy hand written and signed by the Moron Chasam Sofer on the subject of Chalitza. Yergen (Szentgyörgy) close to Pressburg, Dated Thursday 25th day of Menachem Av (1824).
This Teshuva, is the continuation responded to the question of his disciple the Gaon Rabbi Pinchas Leib of Neusatz, on the subject of Chalitza if the brother
has a missing leg. and the Moron HaChasam Sofer sent his answer in conjunction with the question letter to two sages, his father-in-law the holy Rabbi Akiva Eiger and the great gaon the ‘Beit Efrayim’ the holy Rabbi Efrayim Zalmen Margulies.
The response of the holy Rabbi Akiva Eiger was printed in his Shut first part chapter 98, and the response of Rabbi Efrayim Zalmen Margulies was printed in his Shut Beit Efrayim 2nd part chapter 5. In addition to this as the Beit Efrayim received from the Chasam Sofer the response of the holy Rabbi Akiva Eiger he added and wrote the answer in his sefer above, chapter 6. 42 lines hand written personally by the holy Moron Chasam Sofer, it is printed in the ‘Teshuvat Chasam Sofer Even HaEzer’ answer 70. With some small changes from the print.
Due to the greatness and holiness of the Chidushei Torah of the Holy Chasam Sofer, it is accepted among many of his great disciples, that the actual holy hand writing is a great segula for fear of heaven, and salvation in all areas. Likewise great sages of the generation see his holy manuscripts as a segula of protections and rescue from fires in the Jewish homes.
