Published during the lifetime of the holy author in which he writes in the introduction as follows: "ולחשוף ההשפעה מצינורות מבועים ומקורים העליונים להציץ ציץ ופרח… ישפיע כל הטוב והברכה והחיים ומזור לגוף ונפש לחזק לבבם לבטוח בה’ עדי עד ויודו לה’ כי לעולם חסדו".

בענפי החסידות וגזעיה, נחשבים ספריו של הרה"ק מטאלנא כספרי סגולה נפלאה, ליראה ולטהרה, ברוח ובגשם. לא רק בחצרות טשערנאביל אלא גם בחצרות רוז’ין, וויזניץ ואף בקרב צדיקי פולין הקונגרסאית, נחשבים ונערצים, נלמדים באימה וביראה, ברתת ובזיע. אנשי מעלה הרבו להשתמש במליצת הצדיקים על הרה"ק רבי דוד מטאלנא ‘ויברך דוד את השם’ אולם ‘לעיני כל ישראל – ויאמר דוד’, לציבור המוני עם, נחשבו דבריו כדיבורים רגילים, אולם בכל מילה ותיבה מפיו הק’ יצאו גיצי קודש של ברכת שמים, של אהבת השם ושל השפעות טובות.

As well, in the third edition of this sefer ‘Magen David’, which was also printed during his lifetime, the author himself wrote in a rare occurrence the following amazing words:  והנני אומר אשר כל איש חכם לב אשר יקנה את הספר הזה ויהגה בו אקווה שיהיה עליו תרופה לגופו ונפשו ברוחניות וגשמיות בזה ובבא, ויצליח בהצלחות זמניות ונצחיות. אמן כן יהי רצון. (I hereby say every smart person who ever will purchase this sefer and learn from it will hopefully be for him a remedy for his body and soul spiritually and physically in this and the coming world, and success for now and forever. Amen may it be the will of G-d.)
