The Holy sage Rabbi Meir Yosef of Kerestir (1878-1944), son of the holy Rabbi Baruch of Brizdovitz, grandson of the righteous sages of Koznitz, Lizensk, Ohr LeShemayim, Ropshitz, Linsk, Ziditchoiv, Kamarna and many more. A disciple of the holy ‘Levushei Mordechai’ Rabbi Mordechai Leib Winkler, Av Beit Din of Mad. Married his wife the righteous Rebbetzin Rivka Tzirel daughter of the Holy Rabbi Avraham son and successor of the holy sage and wonder worker Rabbi Yeshaye’le of Kerestir. For 6 years he spent with his father-in-law the Holy Rabbi Yeshaye’le and basked in his warm righteousness and holiness and he showed him much affectionate.
Before the passing of Rabbi Yeshaye’le as it seems he saw that his son Rabbi Avraham’le will not merit to be Rabbi for to long, he therefore gave much attention to his beloved grandson who will eventually succeed him and continue in his holy ways. Many relate how people who were in need of a salvation and the holy Rabbi Yeshaye’le of Kerestir came to them in a dream telling them to go to his successor – his grandson and from there will come their relief. It is also told about elderly Chassidim who came to pray at the holy grave-site and while falling asleep there Rabbi Yeshaye’le appeared to them in a dream saying your are searching here from above, descend to my grandson, there you will be helped.
He toiled in Torah all his days, he loved every Jew immensely, continued in his father-in-laws and grandfather’s ways by welcoming guest with exceptional kindness. He continued on a high level inspiring an abundance of holiness, blessings and wealth upon the Jewish people who flocked to him from all the surroundings. Great sages of his generation and especially the Holy Rabbi Shalom Eliezer of Ratzfert, the Holy ‘Ohr Malei’ of Koson and the Holy Rabbi Elimelech of Tosh admired him and gave him much respect and honor. Many wonders are told and linked to his holiness.
