Beautiful letter with compliments: ל"כבוד קדושת אדמו"ר הרב הצדיק הקדוש והטהור… אהרן משה… בעי"ת זאלין" for his donation for the poor of Israel. The Recipients prayed for the rescue of the Admor and his people and blessing them "לעילא מכל ברכתא, לרעות בישראל עמו ונחלתו ולהיות פועל ישועות וברכות והצלחות לישורון עד ביאת הגואל, בב"א". Written at the bottom of the letter are 83 names of receivers of the donations and marked the amount each received. Most receivers, among them famous Scholars of Torah and Chassidut, also added to the letter their hand written signatures or their stamps among them are great Chassidic Gedolim from that era, children of sages and heads of the prominent Chassidic families of our time.
This letter here is a historical document about the life in Israel in general and
specifically in Safed, during the period of the outbreak of WWI. The letter explains that the donations brought life to the poor people, and is extremely important "במצוקות העתים הללו"- (in these turbulent times). World War I erupted close to the time this letter was written, and the times of adversary became much worse.

Admor Rabbi Aharon Moshe Leifer of Zolynia-Lantzut (1855-1925) son of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna and son-in-law of Rabbi Meir Reich of Reisha. He lived in Zolynia and was renowned as Admor of Nadvorna. In the year 1912 he moved to Lantzut and his home became the address for all the needy and many gathered around him. He toiled in Torah and prayers, was wrapped in Tallit and Tefillin all week long, fasted from Shabbat to Shabbat and was famous as a wonder worker.
Among the signatures found on the letter are:
*Rabbi David Yudel Aurbach, grandson of the Holy Toldot Yaakov Yosef, father of the Admor Rabbi Avraham Dov Aurbach of Chernovitz, and grandfather of Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Aurbach from the founders of Yeshivat Mekubalim ‘Shaar HaShamayim" in Jerusalem.
*Rabbi Baruch David ben R’ Levi Yitzchak Kahana was close to Great Admorim Rabbi Arye Leib Lipschitz – the Arye Dvei Eilai’, Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Rimanov, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, and Rabbi Shlomo of Bobov. Ascended to Safed and passed away on the 21st day of Shevat 1921.
*Rabbi Moshe Meir ben Rabbi Mordechai Shmerler, son-in-law of Rabbi Naftali Ber abd of Lutowiska. Chassid of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, who remained in the courtyard of Sanz for 8 years. Ascended to Safed in 1880. In 1918, after the turbulent days of WWI, he went out to the diaspora as a messenger from the Rabbanim of Safed, and passed away on the way the 9th day of Cheshvon 1918, and was buried in Istanbul.
*Rabbi Shalom son of Rabbi Avraham Heller great Torah scholar, grandson of Rabbi Shamuel Heller abd of Safed.
*Rabbi Moshe Deutch – immigrated to Safed from Sighet and married his wife Shifra Leah daughter of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak son of Rabbi Shamuel Heller. Rabbi Moshe was the son of the Gaon and Makubbal Rabbi David Nosson Deutch abd Kretchinow, author of sefer ‘Nefesh David’ and son-in-law of the sage Rabbi Yitzchak Eisik of Strai.
*Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen who served in 1914 as Mashgiach in the Yeshiva and Talmud Torah "Magen Avot" in the holy city of Chevron, renowned as a prominent sage and scholar.
*Rabbi Avraham Shlomo Goldenbaum (passed away 20th of Tishrei 1917) son of Rabbi Shalom Meir son of Rabbi Avraham Shlomo of Ludmir, son of Rabbi Yisrael Chaim of Ludmir son of Rabbi Avraham HaMalach son of the Holy Maggid of Mezritch. Ascended to Israel with his father in 1852, and settled in the holy city of Safed. Was a great scholar and prominent Chassid of Safed, author of sefer "Aishel Avraam" on Shas, was in charge of Kollel Wohlin in Safed and fundraiser for the Kollel. Son-in-law of Rabbi Yehudah Leib of Kolomyia.
*Rabbi Avner [Lorberbaum] – famous in Chassidut. Born to his father Rabbi Yitzchak son of the Gaon of Lisa Rabbi Yaakov Lorberbaum, and his mother Devorah daughter of Rabbi Shamuel Heller abd Safed.
