[2] Letters  to the Gaon Rabbi Akive Yosef Shlesinger, written and signed by the gaon Rabbi Gershon Wolf Banet Rabd Ungvar son-in-law of the ‘Kitzur Shulchan Aruch’ Ungvar 1901.

Ungvar 1886: Letter of support for Rabbi Akiva Yosef Shlesinger  during the time he was persecuted: "אומנם אם עוד יתנו בני הכולל כתף סוררת, ולא יתרצו גם לזה, רק יעמדו על דעתם לשפוט בב"ד מכולל אונגארן, אזי יתחרטו מאוד מאוד ובעת צר להם כי תקופח קצב[ס]תם מנדבת אונגארן ומחלוקת מעותיהם… כי החמס והצדקה לעולם לא יתאחדו, והנהנה מאחד מהם לא שבע א"ע מהשני… כולל אונגרן ועשטרייך… ב’ הצדדים יעמדו לדין לפני רבני כוללים אחרים". At the end of the letter he brings a report about efforts for help in HaChnasat Kalah.

Ungvar 1900: Letter of advice to Rabbi Akiva Yosef Shlesinger to give up on the judgement against the administrators of the Kollelim: "ועתה כי אחרי רואי כי מכ"ת לא ירויח בכל המשפטים ודו"ד… לדעתי נראה באמת שאם ימחול מכ"ת על משפטו ועל טענותיו… ונתן להם כתב חתום שאין לו תביעה עליהם… כמדומה לי וקרוב לודאי בלבי שאוכל לפעול עליהם שיתנו לו עכ"פ מאה זהובים לדירה אשר לקחו ממנו… ובאמת מכ"ת נצרך להם מאוד".

Famous gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef ben Rabbi Yechial Shlesinger (1837-1922), disciple of  the ‘Ketav Sofer’ in Yeshiva Pressburg, Maharam Shik, and Rabbi Chaim Sofer. Son-in-law of Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein. Fought zealously against the Neologen and the adoption of  modern dress and language. Author of sefer ‘Lev HaIvri’. Immigrated to Israel in 1870 and toiled in Torah and settlement of Israel. In 1873 he published his sefer  "חברה מחזירי עטרה ליושנה עם כולל העברים", in which he brought forth a detailed plan political, economical, and organized for the estabishment of the Jewish Nation in Israel in the Torah spirit approved by the Government. After several months he published his sefer ‘Beit Yosef HaChadash’, in its introduction he criticized the administrators of the Kollelim and demanded to investigate the managing of the finances. As a result he suffered many persecutions which caused him to dismiss his institution and close his Beit Medrash. He continued all his life to work for the settlement of Israel and delve in the hidden and revealed Torah day and night.

Gaon Rabbi Gershon Wolf Banet, son of Rabbi Moshe abd Malatzka (Malacky , Slovakia), who was a son of Rabbi Mordechai Banet abd Stomfai (Stupava). Married Mrs Chana Sarah daughter of the famous gaon Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried Rabd Ungvar, author of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Rabbi Gershon Wolf was disciple of Ketav Sofer and MaHaram Shick, succeeded his father-in-law as Rav in Ungvar. Published the sefer  ‘Shem Shlomo’,   there he describes the biography of his father-in-law. Renowned for a great speaker and lectures were published by his son Rabbi Yechezkal in his sefer ‘Meishiv Taam’.

Fold marks, tears along the fold line, some tape on the back of the page, stained. Fair – good condition.
