[2] decisions signed by the Chevra Kadisha of Volozhin about R’ Binaymin son of R’ Shamuel and R"D Pinchas son of R’ Shamuel, including therm as members in their institution, Volozhin, 24th day of Nissan 1828. Among other signatures are also found the signature of the holy righteous Rabbi Eliyahu Shlomo Zalman son of Rabbi Moharr"i, he was the only son of the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak son of the holy great Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, revered disciple of the great and holy Gr"a, Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna.

The righteous gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Shlomo Zalman (1808-1858). Only son of the holy gaon Rabbi Yitzchak (Itze’le ) abd of Volozhin, son of the holy great gaon Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. Was the brother -in-law of the renowned geonim: Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin, the NeTziv of Volozhin, and Rabbi Eliezar Yitzchak Fried. After the passing of his father only his great brother in-laws were appointed to head the Yeshiva, but despite this, Rabbi Eliyahu Shlomo Zalman became famous for his greatness and righteousness.
