Letter handwritten by the Gaon the Imrei Binah, Rabbi Meir Auerbach to the Tzaddik Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz, of historical significance and dealing with the Kollelim and Chalukah -handouts in Jerusalem. 1863.

In the letter to the Tzaddik of Greiditz, the three brothers R. Michael Leib, R. Chana and R. Shimon, the sons of Rabbi Yaakov Kapil, of Posnen, write that they are receiving no support from any ‘Kollel’ in Jerusalem and the cost of living increases, poverty is their lot and suffering and starvation are destroying them. They bitterly lament the situation and beg the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliyahu, who has the ability to help them since he was in charge of many of the donations to the Holy Land, to act for them with the directors of the Kollel Hod and Kollel Amsterdam to give them help and support.

On their letter, the great Gaon Rabbi Meir Auerbach of Kalisch author of ‘Imrei Binah’ and Rabd of Jerusalem added in his handwriting that their claim is justified and he asks "my soul friend and Rav the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Shalita to evoke empathy for these three brothers … he ends the letter with the words הנני ידידו עוז דושת"ה באהבה עזה מצפה לישועת דוארצו בב"א….’
