Important letter by the Rav of Jerusalem the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin about a dispute regarding the Diskin Orphanage founded by his Great Father the Maharil Diskin ‘The Saraf of Brisk’, Jerusalem, 1909.

In the letter, which was sent to the activist Rabbi Shmuel Hillel Isaacs who acted for the orphanage, the Grayyad thanks him for the eleven dollars that were sent as a donation to the orphanage and its institutions. Between the lines, the Grayyad refers to the dispute that broke out during the construction of the permanent building of the orphanage and writes: "Except for the five dollars of the building committee which we have not delivered and will not deliver in the future … since besides being dissatisfied with its management, its spending all the funds … until now the estate has remained registered in the courts in the name of the man who receives all the funds … we hope that surely the owner of the vineyard will come and weed its thorns…"

The letter is signed by the diretors of the orphanage Rabbi Yehoshua Genheim, Rabbi Mendel Moineshtir and Rabbi Yisrael Ze’ev Berinstein.

The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin [1839-1925] Gedol HaDor. The only son of the Gaon Moron the Maharil Diskin who was admiringly called "The Saraf of Brisk". After his father’s passing, the leaders of the old Yishuv in Jerusalem asked him to immigrate to the Holy Land to head the institutions and lead the community. However, only after the passing of the Rav of Jeruslem Rabbi Shmuel Salant did he actually succeed him, although he did not hold the official position. He bravely fought the war of religion and was one of the builders of Jerusalem and the Temple.
