A letter filled with Totah innovations and Pilpul Halacha handwritten entirely and signed by the Gaon Posek HaDor Rabbi Sholom Modechai Hacohen Schwadron of Brezan. Brezan, 1908.
The Halachic letter dealing with deep matters of the laws of a loan in Choshen Mishpat and additional monetary laws was edited and written by Moron the Maharsham to the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sofer, the young Rav of Erlau author of ‘Yad Moshe’ [the son of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shimon Sofer author of Hitorerus HaTeshuva of Erlau and the father of the Holy Admor the Imrei Sofer of Erlau] and at its beginning, the Maharsham kindly writes to the gradnson Moron the Chasam Sofer: Since I received his letter and due to the countless packages of letters, I could not find a moment of peace to reply and today I have made the time for his honorable father my friend the Gaon Shalita and his honorable fathers…
In the body of the letter, Moron the Maharsham mentions his great Sefer ‘Mishpat Shalom’.
At the end of the letter, several lines, the Maharsham’s favorite grandson and editor of his writings the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yisrael Feldman, Motz in Brezan and author of the Sefer ‘Likutei Maharami’ and ‘Shem Yisrael’: "Will receive the reply of the Holy Gaon Rabbi … for the honor of his father’s family he has hastened to reply…"
Rabbi Sholom Modechai Hacohen Schwadron of Brezan [1835-1911]. Posek HaDor. From an early age he was known as a sharp and knowledgeable Ilui. Was ordained by the Sho’el UMeshiv. The Hassid and friend of Rabbi David Moshe of Chortekov. Halachic questions were sent to him from all over the religious world. He is considered one of the greatest Moreh Hora’ah and Halacha of all times.
