Long Halachic question on various matters in Seder Nezikin and on it the genius response handwritten by the great Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shaul Natansohn Abd of Lemberg author of the Sefer ‘Shoel UMeshiv’ and other Seforim, one of Gedolei HaDor. Tshata-Lemberg, 1874.

The response is lengthy and detailed despite the responder stating that he must respond to eleven lengthy questions that were sent to him and his time is short and therefore, so is his reponse. Nevertheless, he responds lovingly  with three lengthy lines containing references from all over the Talmud. 

The date he wrote his response: Monday Terumah Erev Rosh Chodesh 1974. A year before the passing of great Gaon the Shoel UMeshiv.

The greatest Meshiv of his time great Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shaul Natansohn [1808-1975] the Rav of the large community of Lemberg. Was important and admired by all the Tzaddikim and Geonim and especially Moron the Chasam Sofer and Moron the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, who greatly praised him. Authored the Shoel UMeshiv Shut and many other Seforim on all subjects of the Torah, revealing in them but a little of his great genius and his extensive knowledge of the Torah. Letters were sent to him from all over the world, including the most diffciult questions, by Gedolei HaDor. 

The writer of the question is the impotant Gaon Rabbi Shabtai Sheftil Broinfeld [185?-1908] one of the greatest disciples of Moron the Mahari Assad and Moron the Ketav Sofer. One of the most important rabbis of Hungary in his generation. Served as rav in Tshata and later in Berdatelek. Responses to him were printed in the Sefer ‘Shevet Sofer’ .
