Letter of Lamentation and Condolence Handwritten by the Holy Rabbi Wolf Tzitran of Darag, to his son-in-law the Holy Gaon Rabbi Zvi Friedman of New York, the son of the author of Horei Besomim the Holy Rabbi Menashe Simcha of Sobranch, for the passing his holy father and several of the Tzaddikim of the generation and about the establishment of the great Beis Midrash founded by his in-law the Holy Rabbi the Imrei Shefer. Darag, 1926.
In the holy letter, the Holy Admor Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf of Darag laments the passing of the Geonim of the generation:
First, the passing of the lofty Tzaddik Rabbi Yeshayale of Kerestir: "והנה מה נאמר ומה נדבר וגו’ מה נאמר שנלקח מחו’ הגאון מב’ קערעסטיר זצ"ל…
Then the Hoy Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf of Darag continues tearfully about the passing of the Horei Besomim his in-law the Holy Gaon of Sobranch and finally, the recent passing of the Holy Gaon the Atzei Chaim of Siget: "And you have certainly heard of the Gaon Tzaddik of Siget may G-d hav emercy on his people Beis Yisrael everywhere they are…" He strengthens his son-in-law who was chosen to be Abd in New York and not chosen to succeed his father as Abd of Sobranch and wishes him longevity and all the best.
In the second part of the letter, Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf notes his tremendous efforts to establish the Beis Midrash founded by his in-law of the Holy Rabbi the Imrei Shefer of Darag and ends with many blessings.
The Holy Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf of Darag [1857-1927] the son-in-law like son of the Holy Rabbi the Imrei Shefer of darag and his successor as Adnor and Rav of the community and Ram at the great yeshiva where hundreds of students were educated. The leading disciple of the Ma’agalei Tzeddek of Desh. Authored the Sefarim ‘Zeved Tov’ and ‘Aggadot Maharzatz’.
