On the right flyleaf, a lengthy letter to the Holy gaon the Yitav Lev, [27] lines, handwritten and signed by Rabbi Pinchas Aryeh Katz. Notations of additional sections of letters from 1901 on the left flyleaf. A notation on measurment of a Mikveh and a list of Sefarim on the inside of the left binding.
The Gaon Rabbi Pinchas Yehuda Katz Gottdiner, Shochet and Bodek, Shatz and Motz of Ediek, Hungary, mentioned in the Mahariatz Shosborg Shut, Menuchat Moshe Shut, Beit She’arim Shut and more. The son of Rabbi Shimshon Eliezer Katz Gottdiner Abd of Tisa Lick who is mentioned in the Maharam Schick Shut, and the brother of Rabbi Moshe Katz Gottdiner of Oihel. In 1881, a dispute erupted between Rabbi Pinchas Yehuda and members of his community who demanded that he be examined to receive confirmation by the Mahariatz that he is indeed kosher and worthy of his position. In a letter from the Mahariatz to Rabbi Pinchas Yehuda he encourages him and acknowledges him as "Bar Oryan and Bar Avhan" who "corresponded with several Gedolei HaDor who are worthy to be relied on and all of them supported him as Shochet and Bodek and Hora’at Issur and Heiter".
