Rare and iNteresting! Tzeror HaChaim, innovations on Suggiyot by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka Klein of Selish, first edition, Munkatch, 1876. In the body of the book a lengthy notation by Rabbi Yaakov Englander a disciple of the Holy Gaon the author and Moron the Chasam Sofer.
With approbationsby the Holy Rabbi author of Yitav Lev of Siget, the Maharam Schick and more.
Appearing on the approbation leaf is a lengthy notation by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Englander a disciple of the author: "I will thank G-d that I have merited to see Torah innovations by the renowned Gaon Rabbi who spends all his days on Avodat hashem … Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka who was at first Abd of Balkan and my Mesader Kiddushin … and later Abd of Hust and at the end of his days here in Selish I his disicple am writing … Yaakov Englander … 20 Tamuz 1879". In addiiton, appearing on the flyleaf is a dedication by Rabbi Yitzchak Shmuel Feldman a disciple of the Daas Sofer and later a Rav in Budapest.
The author the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka of Selish (1805-1875), one of the greatest Poskin and Tzaddikim of Hungary who was admired by all Gedolei Yisrael. He was known for his Torah greatness and knowledge alongside his holiness and being a miracle-worker. The Holy Rabbi Author of Divrai Chaim of Sanz sent his a patient to be saved by him. Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka was born in the district of Silady and already at a young age, observed the Ma’amar Chazal "Exile to a place of Torah" and moved to Pressburg to study at the yeshiva of Moron the Chasam Sofer (who called him "G-d-Fearing"). After a while there, he moved to study with Rabbi Sholom Ulman in Lakenbach. Served as Rav of several communities until settling in Selish, where he served until his passing.
Rabbi Yaakov Englander [1811-1884], a resident of Kalov, a disicple of Moron the Chasam Sofer and the Rabbi author. Was known as a wealthy man alongside his religious greatness.
