‘Yessod VeShoresh HaChassidut’

An extremely rare document in the history of Chassidism, containing basic lofty and noble Chassidic concepts whose source is the holy words of the Sages, and given as a gift for the birthday of Holy Rabbi Nachum Mordechai of Chortkov the son of the Holy Rabbi Yisrael of Chortkov, by the loyal Chortkov Chassidim from all over the country. Written with a raging heart and unhidden admiration by the loyal Gabai, the well-known Chassid Rabbi Yitzchak Ogenstein, the loyal secretary of the Holy Rabbi Nachum Mordechai of Chortkov.

Before us is a unique and rare Chassidic document, laden with sources and Chassidic concepts and especially the secrets of the Holy Ruzhin dynasty and the royal Chatzer of Chortkov.

The content of the letter, which is written on an especially large leaf, in fine decorated script, is the basics of Chassidut by our Sages, the words of the Gemara, elucidation of the title ‘Chassid’ and ‘Chassidism’ according to the Gemara and the Midrashim.  Later, the letter describes the establishment of Chassidism by Or Shivat HaYamim Moron the Holy Baal Shem Tov and after him the Great Maggid of Mezeritch and after him, generation after generation, exalted definitions of our Holy Rabbis , Rabbi Avraham HaMalach, Rabbi Shalom Shachne and after him the Sabba Kaddisha of Ruzhin. The letter continues, reaching his son the Holy Rabbi David Moshe of Chortkov and after him, Rabbi Yisrael and includes extremely rare expressions pertaining to Rabbi Nachum Mordechai – an extremely rare thing among Chassidim towards their Rebbe, and especially the Holy Ruzhin dynasty.

An extremely rare document in the history of Chassidism!
