Halachot Gedolot, an ancient Halachic composition by one of the Geonim Rabbi Yehudai Gaon, and early edition (fourth), Zholkva, 1811.
On the title page, an ownership notation: "Shlomo Zalman Kak" apparently the signature of the father of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Kook. And an important ownership listed: "הספר הלזה היה מופקד ביד אאמ"ו הרב המאוה"ג מוהר"(ש) זלה"ה מעזבון הרב המאוה"ג מוהר"ר שמואל זצ"ל שהיה אב"ד גאלין ונתתיו ביד בני הרב המאוה"ג מו"ה מרדכי יוסף בק"ק פילא בפקדון עבור שאר יורשי הרב הנ"ל".
Rabbi Shmuel Abd of Galin, is the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel the son-in-law of the great Gaon Rabbi Asher Lemil Levi, one of the ‘Chameshet Chumshei Torah’ the Geonim of the Levi family including the renowned Gaon Rabbi Nachum Shadiker. Rabbi Shmuel succeeded his in-law as Abd of Galin and eventually was succeeded by his brother-in-law Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Levi, the son of Rabbi Asher Lemil.
