The miracle of the saving of Rabbeinu of Satmar! A telegram containing but a little of the worldwide efforts to save the Holy Rav of Satmar and the Rebbetzen from the Valley of Slaughter with the help of Agudas Yisroel in the Land of israel and London.
A most important historical document pertaining to the saving of the Holy Rav of Satmar. A telegram that was sent on November 5 1944 by Rabbi Yoel of Moskowitz, the son of the Holy Rav Rabbi Sholem of Schotz who worked continuously to save the rabbi of Satmar. The telegram appeals to Rabbi Zvi Pinchas Moskowitz, one of the important dignitaries who were closest to the Tzaddikim of Munkatch and Satmar and to the Holy Rav of Belz and Bilogray, about hi ssaving.
The telegram refers to certificates to the Holy Land, held by Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem, with the names of the Holy Rabbi and his pious wife.
Rabbi Yoel of Schotz asks Rabbi Hersch Pinchas to ask Agudas Yisroel to send a telegram to Agudas Yisroel in London and to Harry Goodman noting the names of the Rabbi and his wife and the numbers of the certificates for them.
The telegram was sent during the worldwide efforts to take the Rabbi out of the Bergen Belzen death camp, to which he was led with the other passengers of the ‘Rescue Train’. Before us is an unknown chapter regarding the efforts of the Holy Rav Rabbi Yoel of Schotz, Agudas Yisroel in the Land of Israel, Rabbi Hersch Pinchas Moskowitz and Mr. Harry Goodman.
On the envelope of the telegram, the date of birth of the Rabbi of Satmar ‘Born in 5647 [1887] Parashat VaEra’ was erased and corrected: "Shemot". Indeed the birth date of the Rabbi was the 17th of Tevet 1887, Thursday, Parashas Shemot.
