Letter laden with Torah innovations and many blessings by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin one of the Greatest Poskim of Galicia to his friend the Gaon Rabbi Ze’ev Sandhois, Dokla, 1847.

The letter (which was written in the days of Selichot) is filled with deep Torah innovations and many blessings for the New Year. At the end of the letter, Rabbi Rabin added touching words: "My brother, my friend, I wish I could see you face-to-face…" In addition, he asks that he pray for him in these days of mercy. 

The Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin (1824-1877), one of the greatest Poskim of Galicia. The Rav of Krashtin. Was born to his father Rabbi Zvi Hirsch who was a Dayan in Krakow. Was a disciple of the Holy Rabbi Chaim of Sanz who was fond of him and said of him that he "is perfect in Torah and  G-d-fearingness. Rabbi Shmuel was one of the editors of the responsa of the Divrei Chaim Shut authored by his Rav. In addition, he was the in-law of the son of the Rav of Sanz, the Holy Rabbi Yechezkel Sheraga Halberstam of Shinava. Rabbi Shmuel Aharon served as Rav in several small towns like Krashtin and Zabrov and refused offers to serve in large cities such as Munkatch and Reisha. Authored many important Seforim on all subjects of the Torah, including: Beis Aharon on Hilchos Gittin, Zera Yishai – commentary on Psikta DeRav Kahana, Chumash HaGiborim, Rashei Besamim on the Shas and more.
