"Bestatigung" receipt for charity money for the ascent of the soul of Rabbi Meir Ba’al Hanes. Signed by the Holy Rav Rabbi Shmuel of Bardejov the grandson of Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz.
The Holy Rav Rabbi Shmuel Halberstam of Bardejov (1866-1944) the grandson of the Holy Rav Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz the son of the Holy Rav the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. At a young age, he married Mrs. Fesil the daughter of Rabbi Meir Kifshitz of Janov. In 1902, he published the second edition of the Divrei Chaim Shut of his great grandfather. Rabbi Shmuel was a Gabai of charity for the Land of Israel in Bardejov. He perished in the terrible Holocaust, yet his descendents survived and held important rabbinic positions.
