The secret of writing the Kvitel with the mother’s name and the father’s name. A holy letter by the Holy Knesses Mordechai of Sadigura, disclosing his method of writing and reading a Kvitel. Tel Aviv, 1973.

The letter was sent to the Gaon Rav Rabbi Shmuel Sperber the son of the Gaon Rabbi David Sperber, the relative of the Rebbe the Knesses Mordechai who was close to him

In the letter, the Knesses Mordechai encourages Rabbi Sperber to add and increase Torah by supporting the ‘Da’as Moshe’ Kollel that was founded by the Chassid Rav Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Cohen in Jerusalem. On the rare occasion, the Rebbe discloses to Rabbi Sperber the hidden reason for instructing to write on the Kvitelach – Pitkei Derachamei – the father’s name in addition to that of the mother, as is customary. The Rebbe added a lengthy leaf with various importnat reasons yet noted that this is beside ‘inner reasons which I cannot elaborate’.

Between the lines, some of the Knesses Mordechai’s greatness in hidden matters, holy names and knowledge of Halacha and Kabbalah is revealed.

The Rebbe ends ‘Other reasons are not to be said or written’.
