Letter by the Holy Admor of Rachmistrivke to the Jerusalemite Activist Rabbi Moshe Porush, Jerusalem, 1964.
In the letter, the Holy Admor of Rachmastrivka appeals to the Jerusalemite activist Rabbi Moshe Porush for assistance at the recruiting office for his son-in-law (the Admor of Kopishnitz Shalita) who was travelling to study with his grandfather the Holy Admor Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschil of Kopishnitz for several weeks and needed an exemption for it.
The Holy Admor Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmastrivka (1900-1981) the son of the Holy Rav Rabbi David. In his youth he was almost executed for studying Torah in Communist Russia. After his immigration to Israel, he studied at the Sefas Emes Yeshiva in Jerusalem. When a crowd of Chassidim and disciples gathered around him, he established the Yeshivas Meor Enayim and led his community fiercely. His two sons Rabbi Yisroel Mordechai and Rabbi Chai Yitzchak succeeded him.
R. Moshe Porush (1893-1983) was born in Jerusalem and studied at the Etz Chaim institutions. Was one of the founders of Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem and served as its chairman during the British Mandate and as an observer on its behalf at the council of the marital law in Jerusalem during the War of Independence. Since 1950, he served as a member of the city council of Jerusalem and later, as the Deputy Mayor of the city, until his retirement in 1969.
