‘How Much My Holy Grandfather Scolded Us, Moron Shalita and Myself!’ Guidance on Prayer Matters by Chidushei HaRim to His Two Grandsons, the Holy Tzaddikim the Sefas Emes of Gur and the Sefsei Tzaddik of Piltz in a Holy Letter by the Siftei Tzaddik. Gur, 1889.
A lengthy and fundamental letter by Moron the Holy Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Elazar of Piltz, the grandson of the Holy Rabbi Moron the Chidushei HaRim of Gur and the brother-in-law of his cousim the Holy Rabbi Moron the Sefas Emes of Gur contianing holy guidance they themselves had heard from their holy grandfather the Chidushei HaRim on matters of communal prayer and prayer on time, inflaming words on Avodat Hashem.
Also notes the virtue of prayer on time as perceived by Moron the Sefas Emes in his lifetime and under his leadership. Sent from Gur in 1889.
The letter was sent to the Hassid philanthropist Rabbi Rosnestruch, one of the greatest philanthropists of the Gur court in the days before the World Wars and amongst the closest to Moron the Sefas Emes and his son Moron the Imrei Emes of Gur.
At the beginning of the letter, many blessings for the good health of his dear son and his other descendants. Deals with charity and benevolence and transfers huge amounts to various rabbis. In the second aprt of the letter, he writes rare words: Whenever I speak of you, I will ask you to pray every morning with the Minyan of Rabbi Yeshaya [the renowned Hassid Rabbi Yeshaya Berger] as we know from the holy Zohar Parashat Boh and copies the words of the holy Zohar.
And who is greater than the Holy Moron Shalita – the Sefas Emes of Gur, who will not miss a day of praying one communal prayer … since praying not on time or praying alone is only for the one whose prayer breaks through the windows of Heaven but for the simple like us it is best to be included with the many … and if you had heard how much my Holy grandfather scolded us , Moron Shalita and Myself, when we once were late for the prayer service he screamed at us ‘Why would you deceive me couldn’t you have prayed earlier, how many times have I warned you that when the time comes to serve Hashem Yisborach, it should be in your eyes like a great prize you have merited to inherit [?] to pray before Him Yisborach… and he signs after lines of blessings ‘Your friend who admonishes you with hidden love looking forward to good tidings Pinchas Menachem’.
22 lines handwritten by Moron the Holy Rabbi the Sefsei Tzaddik. 16X20 cm. Considerable wear. Half of his handwritten signature is worn and missing. Good condition.
