Historical documents signed by the Tzaddikim of Jerusalem, in the first days of the establishment of fruit and vegetable shops in the Shemita year in Jerusalm. The years of austerity. 1950s.
The documents that were sent to the center of Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem contain requests by private people, including some of Gedolei Hador, and representatives of public institutions and yeshivas, that the merchadise be supplied by specific greengrocer such as ‘rachamim Moshe Mizrachi’ and more.
The first document: a similar document by the heads and leaders of institutions and yeshivas in Jerusalem:
Appearing at the head of the signatures is th ehandwritten signature of Moron the Beis Yisroel of Gur, who uncommonly signed his holy name – Yisroel – on the stamp of ‘Beis HaTavshil shel Yeshivas Sefas Emes’.
At the end of the signatures – the signature of Rabbi Ezra Atiyah the Gaon of Sephardic Jews and the Rosh Yeshiva of the Porat Yosef Yeshiva.
Appearing after them are additonal important yeshivas: Kol Torah – Rabbi Ze’ev Lang, Chayei Olam – Rabbi Meir Rabinowitz, Etz Chaim, Beis Yaakov boarding school – convalescent home, Dr. Shlissel, Boarding school of Sanhedria – Avraham Chaim Shapiro and the Belz Yeshiva in the Katamob neighborhood – signature of the Gabai and Meshamesh BaKodesh Rabbi David Schlesinger.
In one document: signatures of the Tzaddikim of Jerusalem the residents of the Sha’arei Chessed neighborhood and the vicinity, asking for coupons fro fruit and vegetables at the shop of Rabbi Avraham Weispish in Sha’arei Chessed. Among the signatories: the great Gaon Posek Hador Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach and his in-law Rabbi Leib Ruchamkin, Rabbi Velvel Cheshin, the Tzaddik Kabbalist rabbi Leib Zusman, Rabbi Pinchas Eliezer Faksher, Rabbi Zalman Haker, the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Chaim Todros Herschler, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Porush and many others.
