Letter by the great Gaon Rabbi Menashe Klein author of Mishneh halachos Gaon Av Beis Din of Ungvar, about his plan for settling Jerusalem and establishing the Kiryas Ungvar in Ramot. Brooklyn, New York, Iyar 1979.
The letter was sent to the renowned Jerusalemite activist Rabbi Menachem Porush, ‘as one whom the well-being of Jerusalem, its building and holiness touch his heart’. The Rabbi describes his attempts to establish a neighborhood in Jerusalem, close to Kiryas Ramot Polin, whith hundreds of apartments, a splendid Beis Midrash and yehiva, Kollel Avrechim and Mikveh Tahara. The plan was approved by the famed Finance Minister Pinchas Sapir yet then encountered varied setbacks. The Rabbi asks R. Porush to be in touch with Rabbi Yechezkel Noibart, a member of the committee of Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem and assist him as much as possible.
The Ungvarer Rav ends his letter with blesings to receive the Torah out of satisfaction and prosperity. Kiryas Ungvar was magnificently built in the following years.
