‘Funds are raised for a Mikveh and yeshivas are not allowed to rest’. An extremely rare letter handwritten and signed entirely by Maran the great Gaon Rabbi Aharon Kotler, from when he was the Rosh Yeshiva of his yeshiva in Kletsk, for supporting yeshivas, Torah and Tahara in the cities of Lithuania. Winter of 1928.

The letter was written on the third of Miketz 1928 from Kletsk, where Maran Rabbi Aharon served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the ‘Etz Chaim’ yeshiva, a branch of the yeshiva in Slutzk and was sent to Rabbi Yosef Shuv , one of the leaders of Va’ad Hayeshivas and a close and loyal disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer of Vilna.

In his letter, Rabbi Aharon notes that the Nesbidsh yeshiva is in a difficult situation and Va’ad Hayeshivas should support it and put it back on its feet. He writes that the situation there is very bad amd funds are raised for a Mikveh Tahara and therefore, the yeshiva is not supported and should be budgeted temporarily with at least eighteen dollars per month [a huge amount in those days].There are close to thirty students yet the small yeshiva is most necessary due to the wild condition of the education … and maybe even the Talmud Torah there might benefit.

17X22 cm. A letter entirely handwritten by the great Gaon on the official statinery of the yeshiva and with his pure signature. Extremely rare.

Fold marks, wear and a single filing hole. Very good condition.
