‘ULekachtem Lachem’! Special enevlope from Maran the Steipler with money for buying an Atrog for him and a special letter of blessing written by his holy hand. Late 1970s.
A unique and surprising item! An enevlope with three hundred Israeli Lirot [issued in 1973] on which it is written: For the Rav A. Horowitz, by the holy hand of Maran the Steipler the great Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel Kanievsky author of ‘Kehilos Yaakov’ himself. The envelope was delivered to his old and close disciple Rabbi Avraham Horowitz author of Sifrei ‘Orchos Rabbeinu’ the son of the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Av Beis Din of Düsseldorf and the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yehusa Leib Auerbach the Rosh Yeshiva of ‘Sha’ar HaShamayim’ Kabbalist yeshiva.
Inside the envelope, three contemporary banknotes [issued in, Israeli Lirot, 100 Lira per banknote.
With the money, a Pitka Ila’ah written by his holy hand with blessings ‘three hundred for an Etrog as is customary and may he be blessed with Kesiva VeChasima Tovah in all matters‘. The note indicates his holy custom of making an effort to buy an Etrog even before Rosh HaShana so as to increase Torah and glorify it.
