Since he is awesome and fearful! Three wonderful and touching Drushim, 2 pages handwritten by Maran Posek Hador Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, on Kabbala and Halacha, Yom – the holy day, Kippur, the secret of Hazkaras Neshamos, penitence and reform. Jerusalem, dated to early 1960s.
On two pages, written in pearly dense and meticulous script of Posek Hador and its leader, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, by Divrei Drush, "HaRav Elyashiv’ sheds the mantle of Gaon and Posek and reveals himself as the merciful figure of Rav and leader of the community, who by his love and compassion carries the members of his community on his shoulders and leads them to recognize the deeds that should be done by them and the correct path to walk on.
His words include a wonderful Drush by Rav Elyashiv on penitence and reform, a deep elucidation about the issue of repentance out of Ahava or Yirah, Chochma and Midat Habenoni.
In another shorter Drush, he introduces a Kabbalistic elucidation regarding Hazkaras Neshamos of Yom Kippur, the day of repentance, the day of Neshamos. This Drush reveals the Kabbalistic greatness of Rav Elyashiv, whose vast and deep knowledge of Kabbala was common knowledge, since he was taught it since his childhood by his great grandfather author of the ‘Leshem’; however, despite this knowledge of his Kabbalistic greatness, it has almost no expressions in writing. Before us is one of those rare occasions.
in the third Drush, he elucidates the virtue and importance of praying ‘Al Da’as HaMakom VeAl Da’as HaKahal anu Metirin Lehispalel im HaAvrayanim’. A deep elucidation on the prayers of all Jews as one piece on the holy day.
The style of some of the Drushim indicates that he apparently said them to his congregation at the ‘Tiferes Bachurim’ Beis Midrash, where he led his community all the years.
