Rare broadside by the committee of rabbis in Vilna, for saving the Torah and the students of the holy yeshivas of Vilna and Lithuania and raising funds for them on Shbbath Hanukkah 1920. Yiddish.

This rare broadside indicates the organizations that preceded the establishment of "Va’ad hayeshivas" in Vilna by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsly, the Chofetz Chaim, rabbi Shimon Shkop, Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz abd Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, several years after this broadside.

After World War I, when most of the communities of Europe were destroyed or exiled, Haredi Jews and the Yeshiva world suffered twice as much. The destruction of the communities and the immense destruction of the Torah that followed brought a spiritual disaster on Judaism, on the existence of generations based on the purity of Beis Yisroel and the Torah mught have even been forgotten G-d forbid!

The broadise describes the terrible destruction of the communities of Lithuania and Zamot, notes the first buds of the reestablishment Torah institutions and informs that in Vilna there are at least 200 yeshiva students who dedicate their time to the study of the holy Torah and who must be supported with all might. The broadside notes that  Sabbath Parashas Miketz – Hanukkah 1920 was determined as a ‘Fundraising Sabbath’ for this noble cause, just as The Hasmoneans had returned the Torah to Yisroel after all the troubles.
