Lengthy letter, four pages handwritten by the Gaon and Posek Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin and with his signature, on Aggada and Sugiyyot of the Shas. 1853.
The letter, which is written at length and with wonderous clarity, was sent to "my friend Rabbi Ze’ev…" and contains an expansive elucidation on Aggadas haMidrash "Hayam Ra’ah Vayanos".
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin [1824-1877] one of the greatest Poskim of Galicia, the Rav of Krastin. Was born to his father Rabbi Zvi Hirsch who was a Dayan in Krakow. He was one of the disicples of the Holy Rav Rabbi Chaim of Sanz who liked him and said of him that he was "perfect in Torah and Yirah". Rabbi Shmuel was also one of the editors of the responses in the Divrei Chaim Shut authored by his Rav. In addition, he was the in-law of the son of the Rav of Sanz, the Holy Rav Rabbi Yechezkel Sheraga of Shinava. Rabbi Shmuel Ahron served as Rav in small cities such as Krastin and Zavrov and refused offers to serve as Rav in larger cities such as Munkatch and Reisha. Authored many important Seforim on all subjects of the Torah, including: Beis Aharon on Hilchos Gittin, Zera Yishai – commentary on Psikta DeRav Kahana, Chumash HaGiborim on the Totah, Rashei Besomim on the Shas and more.
