גווילין נשרפים ואותיות פורחות! Confirmation by the Tzaddik Rabbi Nechemya Alter the son of Maran the Sefas Emes of Gur, for the marriage of his daughter and his son-in-law Rabbi Yehuda Katz. Written by his holy hand. Jerusalem, 1929.

Marriage certificate handwritten and signed by the renowned holy Rav Rabbi Nechemya Alter, the son of Maran the Holy Rav the SEfas Emes of Gur and the Rosh Yeshiva of the ‘SEfas Emes’ yeshiva, confirming the marriage of his daughter Mrs. Yocheved Rivka Alter and his son-in-law Rabbi Yudil Katz. They were married in Nissan 1936 and the certificate was issued in Jerusalem, 1929. Apparently, this is a rewriting of the marriage certificate.

The marriage certificate was written by a scribe of the city committee of the Asheknazic community. To it the Holy Rav Rabbi Nechemya added by his holy hand and his pure signature.

Written alongside the holy Rav Rabbi Nechemya’s name and occupation is Rav and beneath it the name of his wife the pious Rebbetzen Mrs. Ester Glika, the daughter of the Holy Rav Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Lomza – a descendant of the holy Tzaddikim of Kock and Radzimin.

The names of the witnesses are renowned Chassidim: the Chassid Rabbi Yisroel Mendel – who amazingly became the in-law of the Holy Rav Rabbi Nechemya, through the only remnant of his large family – his son-in-law the Holy Rav the Lev Simcha of Gur. The second witness, the Chassid Rabbi Yechiel Meir Bach, one of the important Chssidim of Jerusalem and supporters of the Kollel Warsaw-Poland. The writer of the civil date also appears.

The Holy Rav Rabbi Nechemya Alter [1875-1942], the third son of the Holy Rav the Sefas Emes of Gur, the brother of Maran the Holy Rav the Imrei Emes and the in-law of Maran the Holy Rav the Lev Simcha of Gur. His only grandson is the Maran the Admor of Gur Shalita. Served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the Sefas Emes Yeshiva in Jerusalem in its early years. On the side of his father-in-law he was grandson of the Tzaddikim the Holy Rav the Saraf of Kock and his grandson Rabbi Hirsch of Lomza and the Holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh of Radzimin.
