About the Sefer: Chessed LeAvraham, the Kabbalistic Sefer of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Avraham Azulai , includes also ‘Brechas Avraham’ and a Kabbalistic elucidation on Ma’amarei Chazal after Rabbi Chaim Vital. Slavuta, 1794.
The Sefer of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Avraham Azulai was given a place of honor by the greatest Chassidic rabbis. Many Tzaddikim greatly praised the Sefer and frequently cited from it.
This Sefer was one of the first Seforim printed by the Holy Rav Rabbi Moshe Shapiro in Slavuta and whose name was not printed on the title page but rather on its back, with the approbation by his in-law the Holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Shpitovka Av Beis Din of Slavuta, who refers to Rabbeinu the Holy Rav Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz: "My in-law the great rabbinic the son of the holy Butzina Kaddisha Rabbi Pinchas".
It is accepatble by Seforim and writers that in those early years, the printery did not yet have a license and therefore his name does not appear on the title page.
The holy copy of the Holy Rav the Toras Chaim of Kosov! On the title page, a moving notation in square letters from the period: ל’האלוף התורני והרבני המופלא ומופלג בתורה ויראה כבוד קדושת שמו מו"ה חיים נ"י‘. Beneath this notation, two stamps of his holy grandson the Holy Rav Rabbi Moshe of Radowitz, the son of his second son the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Alter, who inherited this Sefer from his grandfather. ‘משה בהרב הצדיק מק"ק סעריט‘ and ‘משה האגיר מסעריטה‘.
Addiitonal ownership notations and stamps. ‘הק’ ישעי’ הלוי הורוויץ [הק’ יוסף ב"מ שואל [זאחימוביץ].
Throughout the Sefer, handwritten editings and comments appraently from a later period. One of the editings is in early script. Dozens of notations and markings of lines and passages for reference. This copy is printed on thick, high-quality paper. Wide, fine sheets. Important Kabbalistic sketches.
[6], 87; 8, 8-11, 11-34, [1] leaves. 20 cm. Slight professional restoration to the title page. Minor damage to the text on the back of the title page. Minor moth preforations. Minor aging and dampness stains. Slight wear. Inadequate trimming of the upper edge with lack in many headings. New leather binding. Very good condition.
