A couple of holy letters showing a little of the great deeds of Maran Sar HaTorah the Great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna author of ‘Achiezer’ for the yeshivas of Lithuania and Poland as president of ‘Va’ad HaYeshivas’.  1931-1934.

The first letter was written to the philanthropist Rabbi Sher of Cape Town, on large stationery bearing the official blank of ‘Va’ad HaYeshivas in Vilna’ and was sent on the 14th of Iyar 1931. In it, Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer thanks Rabbi Sher on behalf of Va’ad HaYeshivas for his donation to Va’ad HaYeshivas from the funds raised by the Gaon Rav Rabbi Yosef Lipman Gurevitz of Vilna. He also pleads with him to send an additional donation ‘since the situation of the yeshivas is bad and their entire existence is in danger due to the terrible crisis in our country’. Rabbi Chaim ends with the blessing ‘עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותומכיה מאושרים‘.

The address of the chairman to which the funds should be sent Rabbi Ch. O. Grodzienski. 17 Zawalna.

The letter is typewritten, stamped with a stamp in the form of Maran Rabbi Chaim Ozer’s signature and with his personal stamp ‘Chaim Ozer Grodzinski Vilna’, an unknown stamp.

* The second letter, handwritten entirely by Maran Rabbi Chaim Ozer, discusses a letter received by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Grienman, the brother-in-law of the Chazon Ish and the right-hand man of Rabbi Chaim Ozer in his activity for Ca’ad HaYeshivas, asking that a delegation be sent to Riga for Va’ad HaYeshivas.

This letter was handwritten entirely by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer and is hand-signed by him. Sivan 1934.
