[1] leaf, 49X46 cm. Written on the back of the leaf is a series of letters for appointing Rabbi Nosson Nachman Coronel as Shadar. Jerusalem, 1864. Written on the leaf is an additional letter from 1853 and a list of donors and donations. With the signatures of the greatest rabbis of Jerusalem, stamps and a wax seal stamp.
Rabbi Nachman Nosson Coronel (1810-1890) – a disciple of the greatest rabbis of Amsterdam and Hague. In 1830 settled in Safed. Due to the earthquake of 1837, he moved to Jerusalem. Studied at the Beis El Kabbalists Yeshiva and served as a Shadar for raising funds abroad for supporting yeshivas and Torah scholars in Jerusalem. In 1864 was one of the founders of ‘Batei Machasseh" in the Old City of Jerusalem. During his travels abroad, he collected manuscripts, conducted studies on the versions of the Talmud and edited and prepared manuscripts by the Rishonim for printing. Authored several Seforim including "Beis Nosson", "Zecher Nosson" and "Chamisha Kuntrasim".
Rabbi Avraham Chaim ben Rabbi Moshe Gagin, the Agan Rav (1787-1848) immigrated in his youth from Kushta to Jerusalem and studied at its yeshivas. As the Rishon LeZion and the Rosh Yeshiva of the Beis El Kabbalists Yeshiva of Jerusalem, he was appointed in 1842 as the first Chacham Bashi in Eretz Yisroel. Author of "Chukei Chaim" Shut, "Chaim MiYerushalayim" sermons and more.
Rabbi Yitzchak Farchi, the "Jerusalemite Maggid" (1782-1853), was born in Safed and moved to Jerusalem in 1798 after his father’s passing. Was a disciple of Rabbi Yom Tov Algazi and the Meshamesh of many of the greatest Chassidim of Jerusalem. Was a renowned Darshan, Dayan and Shadar, who was sen abroad in 1827, 1837 and 1848. Served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the "Chayei Olam" yeshiva and was one of the managers of the "Toferes Yisroel" yeshiva. Authored many Seforim including "Matok LaNefesh", "Zchus HaRabim", "Matok Midvash", "Tuv Yerushalayim" and more.
Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi David Didye of Ghajar, one of the greatest sages and Dayanim of Jerusalem, who served as Rosh Av Beis Din of the beis Din of the Agan Rav and one of the leaders of the "Beis El" community. Served as a Shadar in 1809 and 1827. Passed away on the sixth of Tamuz 1848.
