Written on the title page: ‘Belongs to the Tzaddik Rav Chaim Shalota residing here in the community of Botishen’ where the Be’er Mayim Chaim served as Rav.
In addition, many signatures of ‘Aharon the son of Yaakov Kopil Segal of Josefow’ [?] and the signature of Avraham ben Harav Matisyahu of Belz. Additional ownership notations.
The holy Rav Rabbi Chaim Tirer of Chernowitz, the Be’er Mayim Chaim and Sidduro shel Shabbas, one of the great Tzaddikim of Chassidus. A disciple of Rabbi Yechiel Michl of Zlotchov. Was renowned especially for the holiness of his Shabbas. In 1813, he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Safed, where he was buried. The greatest of Chassidus praised him greatly and studied his Torah. The holy Rav the Sar Sholom of Belz said that his first Mussar Sefer was the Sefer ‘Be’er Mayim Chaim’.
