Postcard in Yiddish handwritten by the pious Rebbetzen Mrs. Chana Golda Rosenfeld the daughter of the holy Gaon Rabbi Sholom of Kaminka [the second] the wife of the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Sholom Reuven of Ushpitzin the son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Elazar of Ushpitzin, the son-in-law of Maran the Gaon the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. Ushpitzin, 1917.

In the postcard letter, which was sent immediately after the passing of her Tzaddik husband, to the important Naggid Rabbi Shimon Steinberg of the USA, Bar Oriyan and Bar Avahan who supported and assisted many of the grandsons of the holy Rav the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, the pious Rebbetzen, who has just been widowed, requests help for her four orphans who need help. ‘Almanah mit Fier Yetomim‘.

The Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Sholom Reuven passed away on the 19th of Tishrei 1917 during a plague of Influenza, together with his sister. At the time, the Segulah of marrying an orphaned groom and an orphaned bride in the cemetery to stop the plague was used, and it proved itself.

The widow’s orphans became wonderful people yet perished during the terrible Holocaust: the eldest, Mrs. Sheindel who married Rabbi Naftali Freund of Bonyhad, Chaim and Malka Devorah who hadn’t married yet. Her youngest daughter Mrs. Freida survived and married the Admor Rabbi Yosef David Rubin of Sasov in New York.

Original postcard, with postage stamps. 15X10 cm. November 1917. Written on both its sides. Signed by the pious Rebbetzen and with her stamp. The stamp is slightly smeared. Good-very good condition.
