Three holy letters on charity and urgent matters, handwritten by the holy Rav Rabbi Meir Leifer of Cleveland, the eldest son of the holy Rav Rabbi Bertzi of Satmar, and by the pious Rebbezten Mrs. Ruchama Mirel Leifer and other family members. Los Angeles, [1940]. 

The letters deal with charity and Chessed and were sent to the Chassid philanthropist Rabbi Shimon Steinberg. In one of the letters which were written at the beginning of World War II, the holy Rav Rabbi Meir pleadingly writes ‘to be always brought good tidings and especially from Europe … so may be it’

An additional letter is by the pious Rebbetzen renowned for her charity Mrs. Ruchama Mirel Leifer, the daughter of the holy Rav Rabbi Alter Ze’ev of Strizov Melitz, the granddaughter of the Tzaddikim of Shendishov, Melitz, Rupshitz and Nikolsburg. Her first marriage was to Rabbi Naftali Ungar of Neimark and her second to the holy Admor of Cleveland. 

The letter was written on her holy husband’s official stationery and on its back, her daughter Mrs. Reichel Leifer added a letter of regards. These two letters are in Yiddish. 

The holy Rav Rabbi Meir Leifer of Cleveland, the eldest son of the holy Rav Rabbi Bertzi of Satmar. Served as Rav and Admor in Pest and then moved to the USA and opened his court in Cleveland, USA. Later, he moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He had no sons and his holy court was succeeded by his son-in-law and nephew Rabbi Asher Mordechai Rosenboim of Cleveland and from it, the courts of Strozhnitz and more branch out. Passed away on the 12th of Nissan 1941.
