Collection of Letters by the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Binyomin Mendelsohn Gaon Av Beis Din of Komemiyut, about Individual and Communal Matters and the Mitzvah of the Shemitah

Collection of letters by the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Binyomin Mendelsohn Gaon Av Beis Din of Komemiyut. About matters of helping the individual and the community and the Mitzvah of the Shemitah.

* Letter on a postcard, from early 1935, when he served as the Rav of Kefar Atta eventually Kiryat Atta, in which Rabbi Mendelsohn asks Rabbi Ze’ev Fischer – Shein [Zohar], one of the leaders of Poalei Agudas Yisroel, to step in and deal with the occupational situation of 30 families which a certain contractor had promised to employ.

* Two letters bearing the official logo of Moshav "Komemiyut – An organization of veterans for communal settlement"/ Sent to Rabbi Moshe Porush, one of the leaders of Agudas Yisroel and the manager of its Jerusalem center. Bearing the date "the first of Nissan 1952". In one of them he pleads for a needy Jew living in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem. It should be noted that reason Rabbi Mendelsohn asks for assistance for this Jew is that this Jew’s son, who supported his father for many years, is observing the Shemita and not working his fields and therefore does not have the money to help his father.

* A letter bearing an official logo, dated Iyar 1973, in it he asks for a loan for a resident of Komemiyut who is about to marry his son who is studying at the Vizhnitz Yeshiva. ‘The father is worthy in himself and the son is worthy in himslef".

The renowned Gaon Rabbi Binyomin Mendelsohn (1904-1979), a Chassid of Maran the Holy Rav the Imrei Emes of Gur. On his Rav’s advice, he immigrated from Poland to the Holy Land and served as the Rav of Kefar Atta (eventually, Kiryat Atta) and later as the Rav of Moshav Komemiyut which was established by the young members of Agudas Yisroel who served in the Haredi Nachal. He worked for supporting the observance of the Shemitah and Mitzvos Hatluyos BaAretz. Was close to Maran the Holy Rav Rabbi Aharon of Belz and Maran the Chazon Ish.
